The places where we live, work and play represent the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in around the world. The design and construction industry is positioned to have a profound impact on lowering those emissions by continuing to foster high building performance and reducing building-related greenhouse gas emissions.
Mathes Brierre Architects is committed to joining in this effort to change the course of the planet’s future. We are on a path of learning from our past efforts and exploring new technologies and building techniques to realize significant reductions in the use of natural resources, non-renewable energy sources and waste production as well as promote regeneration of natural resources.
The AIA 2030 Commitment is an actionable climate strategy that gives us a set of standards and goals for lowering emissions in the built environment. Joining the 2030 Commitment places us within a community of designers sharing benchmarks for building types and projects to help us hone-in on goals, while sharing knowledge.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a green building certification program developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), it includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods, which aims to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.
