Dodwell House on Esplanade Ave. near N. Claiborne, a center-hall residence built in 1846, is being renovated by St. Anna’s Episcopal Church. The historic building will become a community center and act as an expansion for the Church’s Anna’s Place NOLA program. It will offer after-school care for the neighborhood, a food pantry and homeless outreach.
Mathes Brierre Architects is providing architectural services to help St. Anna’s realize their vision. Renderings were produced to aid in fundraising and construction has begun. Building stabilization is complete and the second phase of construction has just begun.
Engineers on the project are GVA Engineering, Morphy Makofsky Inc. The contractor is Mayer Building Co. and Southkick Historic Preservation is providing client management and preservation consulting.
We look forward to the completion of the project and seeing a vibrant community center in a much needed area.
