CANAL 1535

NEW CONSTRUCTION

PROJECT INFORMATION

COMPLETED: 2019

BUDGET: $62 MILLION

CLIENT: PROVIDENT REALTY DEVELOPERS

LOCATION: NEW ORLEANS, LA

Originally called Canal Crossing, Canal 1535 is a new construction of a nine-story, 330-unit apartment building with an attached parking garage and 5,000 square feet of retail space.

Formerly, the site housed the original Tulane School of Medicine, which was torn down before the “new” Charity/University Medical Center was built.

Canal Crossing caters to professionals downtown and in the medical district, and feature more than 10,000 square feet of amenities for residents, including a full demonstration kitchen, lounge, piano bar, conference and work space, as well as an in-ground pool and 5th level terrace overlooking Canal Street. Residents can access secure parking directly at the level of their apartment. Each unit features a private balcony.

The project is one of the first to comply with new stormwater ordinances, and features two 50,000 gallon stormwater tanks, permeable paving, and gardens to slow the release of stormwater back into the city’s systems.

The exterior cladding includes a sleek composite metal tower, porcelain tile base and smooth modern masonry.

Mathes Brierre is pleased to partner with Wallace Garcia Wilson of Houston on this project.
