The design concept for the library was to blend a new aesthetic with the existing Tudor Gothic architecture of the original campus buildings. Matching brick and cast stone were used to emulate the original architecture, but larger window openings allow significantly more diffused light, though red (Jesuit) crosses, into the spacious interiors. In 2009 the Library was rated the 5th best in the country by the Princeton Review.
