JESUIT HIGH SCHOOL MADONNA DELLA STRADA ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

ADDITION AND HISTORIC RENOVATIONS

PROJECT INFORMATION

COMPLETED: 2021

PROGRAM: 25,000 SF

BUDGET: $11.3 MILLION

CLIENT: JESUIT HIGH SCHOOL

LOCATION: NEW ORLEANS, LA

The changing and growing needs of Jesuit High School required that a new building be built on campus. A new 4-story building was designed to connect to the existing buildings on Banks Street, but the key was to make it blend into the campus which include buildings that date back to 1926. Using the same scale and proportions of the existing building we were able to design an elegant addition that meshes with the old without sacrificing modern needs. A custom brick veneer mix along with cast stone elements, allows the new building to visually blend with the campus while still standing out as the main entrance.
The Administration Building houses the school’s business side including admissions, president’s office, bookstore, and more, thereby separating administration from the classroom activities. This allows for more safety for the students and teachers as well as less distractions for everyone. As part of
this project, the old maintenance shop of the original building was turned into a multi-purpose room maintaining some interesting features, and the roof of that building into an outdoor terrace.
