As part of the process for development of new Medical Center facilities in Downtown New Orleans, the City of New Orleans hired Mathes Brierre Architects  as part of a team to evaluate the current state of public Right-of-Way infrastructure in the area of the Medical Center site, determine improvements that will be necessary to facilitate the new development, and formulate a budget plan to implement those improvements. The types of improvements which the study addressed were roadway aesthetic or functionality improvements, sidewalk reconfigurations and enhancements, public transit stop improvements,  pedestrian safety improvements, site furnishing recommendations, wayfinding signage opportunities, planting enhancements, and lighting recommendations. Mathes Brierre coordinated with all public agencies, the medical centers and their A/E design teams, and engineers developing new  utility infrastructure for the development.
