The campus buildings at St. Martin Manor sustained significant damage during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The original building and its outbuildings, a gate house and a stable, were designed in the late 1800’s as the new Catholic Asylum of the Little Sisters of the Poor. The Archdiocese of New Orleans selected Mathes Brierre Architects to design the renovations of the historic campus buildings and to replace the existing 1970’s 5-story building on the site to accommodate Senior Independent Living. The 5-story building was replaced with a new state-of-the-art facility. The entire facility provides 140 Senior Independent Living apartment units and its support spaces. St. Martin Manor is owned by the Archdiocese and is affiliated with Christopher Homes.
