November of 2023 marked the grand opening of the Liberation Pavilion at the National WWII Museum. It is the final pavilion of exhibit space and the last piece of the story. The exhibits explore the end of the war, immediate post war years and its continuing impact today. Exhibit space themes include Anne Frank, the cost of victory and losses, concentration camps, looting, and more. The pavilion also holds a chapel for reflection or as a rental space and an immersive 4-D rotating theater on the third floor. The “prow” of the building’s exterior is also used for a nighttime projection movie called Expressions of America.

For the team members of Voorsanger Mathes this Pavilion is the culmination of 20 years of hard work. What started with Voorsanger Architects winning a competition, led to two decades of a strong partnership between Mathes Brierre and Voorsanger. Over the time, the team produced a consistent product in aesthetics and quality and is incredibly proud to have been part of such a monumental and important project.
